Anita Grossman Solomon

I am going to try and post from my iPad and see how it turns out! All I found out from Simply Mac about my computer is that it is officially "broken", and that was two days ago, so we will see.
I arrived at the Utah Quilt Festival just in time for the noon luncheon and lecture last Wednesday. The speaker was Anita Grossman Solomon all the way from New York City! She lives in a high rise apartment complex in Manhatten and it was fun to hear her describe her quilting adventures in the city. For example, she showed us some pictures of how she quilts and stores fabric in her apartment. She said she sets up her ironing board in her bathroom and that is how she came to burn her stomach with her iron! She also makes use of the hallway for her design wall, and the building doorman to hold quilts for her to photograph.

Anita's quilts are pretty traditional but she has come up with some really unique and "simpler" ways of constructing them. You can read more about her and her methods on her website:  www.MakeItSimpler.com
She also teaches classes on the Craftsy website, so be sure to check that out as well.

Each day at the luncheon, the guild gave away a ton of door prizes and table prizes, plus there were table favors for everyone. The table favor today was a charm pack, which for those of you who don't know, is a packet of five inch squares, usually 30-40 of them! Nice gift :)

Some of Anita's quilts.
